CSS Gradients - 2013

CSS Gradients , author: Justin Seeley

subject: Web, Web Graphics, Web Design, Web Development, Design

released: Feb 15, 2013 | level: Beginner | duration: 1h 13m | 195 MB

Join Justin Seeley as he introduces gradients, a somewhat hidden strength of CSS that allows you to add depth and texture to your web designs while reducing load times—creating a better viewing experience for your visitors versus static images. Discover how to create simple linear and radial gradients; apply them to backgrounds, buttons, and text; and write browser-specific syntax to ensure your designs look the same across multiple platforms. The course also shows how to create metallic textures, diagonal gradients, and repeatable patterns. Along the way, Justin demonstrates real-world uses for gradients and techniques to extend them beyond the basics.

Topics include:

-  Exploring browser compatibility
-  Creating horizontal and vertical gradients
-  Adding extra color stops
-  Exploring radial gradient syntax
-  Using transparency
-  Creating fallbacks
-  Generating gradients via the web

The Go Programming Language , Authored by: John Sonmez

Level: Intermediate | Duration: 4h 35m | WMV 1024×768 | 2/15/2013 | Packed size: 384 MB

Go is awesome! It looks like C, but don’t be deceived – it is completely different! The Go Programming Language is a new programming language from Google. It is very different than many other modern programming languages, and is a great substitute for C or C++. In this course we will cover most of the Go programming language and look at some of the neat things we can do with Go.

We’ll progressively cover each important concept in the language and finally end by looking at concurrency (which is built into the language.) If you are looking for an extremely fast an efficient language that is an elegant replacement for traditional systems programming languages like C or C++, Go might be just what you are looking for. Go allows you many of the benefits of powerful low level languages, but is very easy to use and designed with today’s programming environment in mind. By the end of this course you should be ready to start programming in Go!

CreativeLive – Learn Anything: Hacking Your Education

Instructor: Dale J. Stephens | WEB-Rip | WMV | 944×528 | Packed size: 4.32 GB

Length: 3-Day Weekend Workshop in feb 2013

Dale J. Stephens is changing the notion that college is the only path to success and the only way to become educated. In his ‘Learn Anything’ course, Dale will show you how to design your own education outside the traditional institutions.
Dale J. Stephens founded UnCollege.org, the social movement changing the notion that college is the only path to success. In 2011, he was selected as a member of the inaugural class of Thiel Fellows. His first book, Hacking Your Education, will be published by Penguin in 2013.
Topics covered: Meta-learning, How to Communicate Your Talents, Personal Learning Plans, building portfolio

We’ve selected 5 true hackademics to join Dale J. Stephens in Seattle for his “Learn Anything: Hacking Your Education” workshop February, 1-3. During this 3-day event, these individuals will work with Dale in person to build their own custom learning plans!

Here’s your chance to get to know them a little better before the workshop begins.

Ashton Tate from Jacksonville, FL (@_AshtonTate_) – Ashton is 23 years old. He completed a study abroad program in Argentina and after graduating with a degree in finance and economics, he continued studying languages in London. Being a hackademic has lead him on an exciting path, learning skills that were never mentioned at his university. He enjoys learning foreign languages, practicing public speaking, and working with electronics. His current goal is to learn as much as he can about the field of computer programming.

Brian Looper from Tacoma, Wa. (@brianlooper) – Brian is a “connoisseur of information and adventure.” He is a father of 4 children and is skeptical that the traditional school system will give his children the education they deserve. Brian journeys to creativeLIVE in search of alterative education methods that will benefit his 4 children.

Morgan Burdick from Seattle, Wa. – Morgan is currently in her second year at Seattle University pursuing degrees in Humanities and General Science. She grew up living abroad spending time in and out of formal education. She has always loved learning, but since starting college, she has found it diffiuclt to get excited about  classes and the limits her schedule puts on learning outside the classroom. She hopes Dale can teach her how to efficiently learn on her own time.

Jordan Boyd from Vancouver, BC. (@jboydvan) – Jordan had a tough time in high school. His grades never reflected what he learned and his frustration grew with each dissappointing grade. He’s now 22 and is an avid reader, composer and self-learner. Jordan is currently in the process of launching an in-home technology training company called Social Pigeon, which specializes in training people how to use their computer or tablet. He hopes Dale can help him streamline the learning process of starting a business.

Ashley Hogrebe from Bellingham,WA. (@ashleyhogrebe) – Ashley studies Public Relations at Western Washington University. She is tired of living under the weight of student loans and the expectation of traditional grading systems. Ashley is excited to take her education into her own hands. She hopes Dale can help.
